Ways these Denver Broncos together with their malleable quarterback can stop the Kansas City Chiefs' rule.

Week six of the 2025 NFL season

Live coverage includes live text of the weekend matchups via various channels, beginning with Denver Broncos v New York Jets at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Additionally, audio coverage can be heard on select stations for a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week in the football calendar and after last week's discussion about the Buffalo Bills and Philadelphia Eagles being possible championship contenders, each surrendered their unbeaten records.

Striking in those games were the amount of infractions both committed. Philadelphia did so at crucial times so they essentially beat themselves having led by two touchdowns entering the fourth period versus Denver, set to play in London this Sunday.

But it was positive to see that Denver's QB Bo Nix was able to overcome the shortfall and then direct three successful possessions on three possessions during the final period, securing the victory 21-17.

Denver boast the top defender in CB Pat Surtain II. They are number one in red zone defence, whereas Philadelphia are number one in red zone offence, yet Denver won that contest.

They executed effective strategies in terms of disguised blitzes. They weren't necessarily rushing more than four defenders but they could position two LBs in the interior before drop them out and dispatch a slot defender from the outside.

At the start of the season, we said on a program how the Broncos might emerge as the current year's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year well then did a good job in continuing that momentum.

Could Denver be this season's underdog story?

Recently acquired TE their tight end has stepped up significantly while recent running back their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He's currently 5th league-wide for rushing yards (402) as well as tied-fourth for rushing touchdowns (four).

I love how the coach Sean Payton displays "RUSH!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

That shows how the Broncos are a squad that wants to prioritize the run, because one can achieve much off the back of that. It reduces opposing rushes and keeps you in favourable down and distances.

It's also helped quarterback Bo Nix, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick last year, throwing 29 touchdown passes – second only to Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 back in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert possess powerful arms to throw anywhere, however they don't move the mobility as Nix. He has incredible passing ability, a unique trait, plus he is so athletic.

His strengths include his movement, the capacity to throw on the run, as well as finding varied release points to deliver throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He can throw precision throws over the middle or over the corner.

As a rookie QB, aged 25, he's got great poise under pressure and is not really fazed by extra rushers. He tries to avoid being tackled as much as possible and can pass under pressure. He has a high football IQ and is very decisive.

If you constantly run the ball it consumes the clock and forces the defence to stay on the field extended periods, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defense has to cover the area downfield side to side. It can be exhausting.

The quarterback has bitten back with the coach on the sideline at times and I think Payton appreciates that fire, seeing him as a fierce rival. In my view it's fun for the coach to coach a rookie QB that is similar to play-dough. The coach can really build something up how he wants to build it. I believe it's a special experience for him.

Payton has won a championship and now surpassed a legend for career NFL wins (173 - tied 14th overall). He's seen it all. In my opinion the success the Broncos are having offensively is largely due to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the combination with Nix aids make him into who he is.

There's no better a more qualified person guiding you, to assist you through some of the tougher situations and build self-belief.

I believe in the Broncos' defense, in Bo Nix's tenacity and composure. Yet is the team good enough to go against a top squad at its best? Since that was not championship-level play by the Eagles last Sunday.

Right now, I don't think the Broncos are incredible. They're performing better than most, which is a solid position to hold their division. All they need is is maintain this trajectory.

They're really good at leaning into their strength, which is running the ball, and that's exactly what they must do against the New York Jets at Tottenham. It will likely be the JK Dobbins show, in essence.

New York have surrendered 140 rushing yards each contest (sixth worst), five rushing touchdowns this season (in the bottom ten), and they are the only team without a win a game.

Ever since the NFL started recording takeaways in 1933, the Jets are also the first team to go without a single takeaway in five outings, which is kind of shocking considering that their new coach Aaron Glenn a defensive coach at the Detroit Lions.

Patrick Mahomes says Kansas City have 'already lost too many games' after Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

After the upcoming matchup, the Broncos have a smooth-ish schedule up to their break (in week 12) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders before the Chiefs.

Looking at their division, Kansas City are 2-3 while Denver are even with the Los Angeles Chargers at 3-2 so they could make a run for the top of the West.

It depends upon what version Kansas City shows up they meet because Denver {beat|def
