The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Mayor.

While perhaps not at the equivalent scale as pardoning holiday birds, but the county's top official experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s iconic Little Havana neighborhood.

“The swine has done no wrong. She deserves this act of mercy. She has committed zero crimes,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the sheer volume of executive clemencies issued since the beginning of a current administration.

“If we disregard eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “I hope she experiences a lengthy and joyful existence free from concern.”

The event, simultaneously observing and challenging the region’s Hispanic tradition of feasting on pork during the holidays, was founded to replicate the traditional fowl clemency at the White House.

The animal, provided by a first responder, was given its name from the popular vernacular phrase of young people exclaiming “six seven” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The craze became so ubiquitous that a prominent word reference recently made “6-7” its annual vocabulary selection.

A New Life

The pardoned swine is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become one of our favorite ways to kick off the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a notably cheerful message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: happy, multicultural, and grounded in customs that unite the community. Each year, we are proud to celebrate tradition and kindness in a way distinctively Miamian.”

Guests enjoyed a meat-free selection of spinach fritters and strong coffee as they marked the pig's pardon.
