Former Doctor Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing sexual assaults against 38 victims who were under his care.

Details of the Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

A senior prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges follow what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

The defendant is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.

List of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 charges comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of penetrative assault.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.

Police are urging anyone with concerns to get in touch with the investigating team.
